PROGRESS OF FROM AID TO TRADE (FA2T) PROJECT 2023–2025
In September 2023, CETOSUDE welcomed two experts from GAD/K2G Netherlands, Prof. Henk Cruster and Mr. Michael Maunder from Kenya, renowned specialists in dairy farming projects. The experts conducted a preliminary assessment in collaboration with the CETOSUDE team across Hai District. This assessment generated a comprehensive report on the current situation of dairy farmers, laying the foundation for the project’s planning and implementation.
Based on the assessment report, CETOSUDE began drafting a detailed project proposal in 2024, which secured funding from Global Agriculture Development (GAD) and Wildganzen as key donors for the FA2T – Hai, Tanzania project. The project officially launched between November and December 2024, accompanied by a baseline survey conducted by the two experts, Mr Michael Maunder and Prof. Henk Cruster, and the CETOSUDE team, led by Joseph Godfrey Massawe (Executive Director) and Mustafa Mushi (Project Coordinator).
In February 2025, CETOSUDE organized training sessions for 60 lead farmers and 20 livestock officers from Machame Uroki, Machame Kaskazini, and Masama Kusini Wards. The training focused on improving dairy farming practices to uplift farmers from poverty. The project adopts a participatory approach, involving farmers in decision-making through the Project Implementation Team (PIT), ensuring sustainability and community ownership.
This initiative has positively impacted over 420 dairy farmers across the three Wards, providing them with knowledge, skills, and technical support to enhance productivity. The FA2T project remains committed to empowering farmers to transition from aid dependency to self-sufficiency.
Below, you will find comprehensive reports, photos, and various project activities showcasing the progress and community transformation driven by the FA2T Project.
